Plainfield Fire-EMS Personnel Training

Plainfield Fire-EMS is currently staffed by resident volunteers with years of combined firefighting experience. The Department provides first-in fire, light rescue, and EMS services to the town of Plainfield, with standing mutual aid assignments to the towns of Ashfield, Cummington, Hawley, Windsor, and Savoy.

All firefighters are CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automatic external defibrillator) certified, and trained as Medical First Responders or higher. Most are trained to the Haz-mat Operational level and are ice rescue certified. At present there are eleven staff EMT's available for call at all times. Several of our firefighters have received specialized training in the areas of wildland firefighting, SWI (structural-wildland interzone), mountain rescue, ice and water rescue, fire prevention and fire investigation.
